No replies to my original question.... You wouldn't think straight Xylitol powder would be so hard to find here...

Meanwhile, I did find a company in BKK that sells Xylitol in bulk, smallest portion being 5 KG...

Thai Food and Chemical Co. in Bang Na

I'd really prefer a smaller size package, but if nothing else gets put forward, I may have no choice...

Yes Tops has it. In Liquid form

You might check Gourmet Market, Siam Paragon.

Thanks Meelousee.... I hadn't tried Tops yet for this, but I will now... But I'd be looking for the powder form more than the liquid form...

Curt, I tried the Gourmet Market at Paragon earlier this week... no luck looking in the sugar/sweeteners and baking sections, unless it's hidden away elsewhere.

When I was there, there happened to be a couple of girls from the Lotte company doing a big counter display of their Xylitol gum... So I asked them, and they took me to the sugar section, where there was none. They didn't think the store had any except for the gum version.

fyi, I did end up buying the 5 kg bag of powdered Xylitol from the company I mentioned above... Total came to about 1600 baht, which is cheaper than the prices I found in the U.S. for the equivalent of 11 pounds....

Someone asked me why I was looking for powdered Xylitol. Turns out, my sinus doctor specialist in Los Angeles recommended adding it to the saline solution I use for washing out my sinuses... 10 teaspoons or 3+ tablespoons of XZylitol powder per 16 oz. of warm saline solution. I've been using it for a month now, and it works great...

Turns out, they've done some trials that show that using Xylitol in a sinus rinse solution has the same effect on preventing sinus infections as it does in helping prevent tooth decay. The Xylitol inhibits the growth of bacteria by preventing it from feeding/reproducing.

Ever since I started adding it to my twice daily sinus rinses, my sinuses have felt markedly better and I haven't had the same recurring symptoms of sinus congestion and pain, nor have I had any yellow/green phlegm. So this weird treatment gets a definite thumbs up from me... And, unlike a lot of other solutions, there's no bad taste to the Xylitol solution...just kinda sweet, as you might expect.
