Lost Passports

Featured Replies

I stupidly left my passport in a taxi the other day and I'm about to file the police report.

When I lost my passport in the UK I went to see if it had been handed in to the police and was told no but even if it had it's automatically cancelled and you'll need to apply for a new one, which seemed a bit odd to me.

What I'd like to know is whether anyone knows if the same thing applies here, or can I (hopefully) just collect my passport from the police or my embassy? I fear it's the former!

Thanks for any help

Your passport won't be canceled until you report the loss to the embassy.

You need to make the police report as soon as you can.

Then go to the embassy to report it lost to them and apply for a a new one.

Having copies of it will help.

So if it's been handed in do you think the police will keep it, pass it on to my embassy or just cut it up?

They would in time turn it over to the embassy.

They may know if it has been turned in when you make the police report.

I am closing the topic because you have another one going about your lost passport;
