Bangkok to increase city’s health clinics

BANGKOK: -- The Bangkok authorities plan to open 500 more community health centres in the capital in the next two years, from the existing 1,000, the city’s governor, Apirak Kosayothin, said on Thursday.

Half of the new community health centres will be built this year and the rest in 2006.

Health volunteers will also be paid double the current daily wage of Bt70.

The pay increase will take effect soon.

Also under the development plan, the city’s community health centres will boost the examination and diagnosis rate of senior citizens.

The service will also be available on the weekend, Governor Apirak said.

Quote "Health volunteers will also be paid double the current daily wage of Bt70."

I wonder if this generous payrise for volunteers will be come from the savings they expect from a planned 10% reduction in the Government workforce this year?? :o
