Just came across the new coins of the Great UK.

http://www.royalmint.com/store/BritishSilver/D09SP.aspx

They start off OK with the 2 GBP and the 1 GBP, but then look at the rest. Jesus, they all look like a loony has got into the minting works and caused the machines to strike them off centre. Dreadful, will the scottish <deleted> Brown and Darling stop at nothing? First of all they devalue the GBP and then allow the Royal Mint to knock out coins like this, that normally you would expect to be melted down and restruck.

Not Thailand related so the Thread will be closed soon.

However these designs, when the coins are arranged together, make up the Shield of the Royal Arms - from the Website:

"The coins feature the new designs by Matthew Dent which make up the distinctive shape of the shield of the Royal Arms."

Interesting that you relate the design of a commemerative coin set to movements of the pound on foriehn exchange markets.

I checked historical rates. The day that Labour were orignally elected 1 May 1997 the pound stood at 1.6238. Today it is 1.6629.

Value against another fiat currency tells you nothing. Try it against......gold.

The new 2 pound silver coin. 1 oz of fine silver. 8.45 sterlings' worth of silver for only........22.50. A bargain.

Regards.
