As long as Americans are happy to pay so much more for quality products... cheer Trump on, you idiots, the fate for the uneducated is being poor. All the while, for us Europeans: decouple, decouple, decouple! We can live profitably by trading with the rest of the planet, excluding the USA completely, while we watch the Americans sink to the bottom of their Gulf of Stupidity. The Swiss company -- a world leader in its niche -- I work for has decoupled; it has been painful, but we are all the happier for it (as nobody needs to care what Trump says from day to day). Back-payments for the illegal tariffs have started to come in, which will be last direkt interaction with the USA. There are still companies in the US who want our products, but we have cut all direct marketing: we have enough resellers that take on the risk of trying to sell our products to the US, while we have been concentrating on opening new direct markets elsewhere. By now, we are making pretty much the same turnaround as before Trump, without all the idiotic hassle, and I, personally, think this is the (only) right strategy for pretty much everybody.
