February 15, 200521 yr Never give a young Thai man $$$ for a phone...words to live by. We should have them engraved on a plaque at the airport... Any more truisms you guys care to comment on?????
February 21, 200521 yr It is more blessed to give than to receive? Only a couple of days ago I asked a, Future Boyz superstar, bar boy how old he was when he finished school. His answer was "nine years old". I asked if he was saving his money and taking home. His handsome face lit up with pride " Yes. yes I have land and cow and buffalo". Who would not be pleased for him?
February 21, 200521 yr ^ Ohhhh.. bless his little cotton-socks!! (It's a British expression..!) ChrisP
February 21, 200521 yr Never give a young Thai man $$$ for a phone...words to live by. Any more truisms you guys care to comment on????? I may be pedantic but it's not a truism - a self-evident truth - it's a proverb - a short pithy statement -. Having got that off my chest, I would like to know what it means or suggests. Why not give a Thai man (or boy or girl or woman) $$$ for a phone? Little cotton socks - plain white - I find the only acceptible clothing in bed both in reality and explicit movies. Give until it hurts Receive until it hurts
February 21, 200521 yr We don't have to explain them... they're truisms!!!! Why don't we keep this thread light and funny, though? If ya wanna discuss the question seriously, why doncha start another thread? Another truism: Never go to karaoke with a group of kathoeys!!! [well, unless you're really into the whole karaoke thing] "Steven"
February 21, 200521 yr Never tell your Thai guy you've named him in your will... [after all, maybe you can trust him, but he'll talk- and can you trust *all* of his family? ] "Steven"
February 21, 200521 yr Why not give a Thai man (or boy or girl or woman) $$$ for a phone? .'coz everyone knows.. it's NOT for the phone....! wowpow.... if someone approaches you for money for a sick buffalo... RUN in the opposite direction... ok? ChrisP
February 21, 200521 yr "Be consistent with Tips." )'coz whatever you tipped last night's BarBoy... tomorrow the new one will know...!" (and you'll be in trouble if it's less. ) ChrisP
February 22, 200521 yr Author I started a new topic? How did that happen? Oh ic now...anytime Mr. P. And WP whatever... But sorry guys and gals I have no others to offer... But just wait I am sure that the Pope will be onboard this one soon! Oh I know the hash browns are tastier than the fries at Burger King after a night of martinis in Soi 2!!!!! Oh thats not about boys I guess...
February 22, 200521 yr Actually, though it's a bit tangential, except for the obvious (DJ station) what *else* is worth going to up that Soi? I've seen a lot of little bars, some full of kathoey-type mama-sans camping around- is any of it worth a look? "Steven"
February 22, 200521 yr How about this one....... "If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck,it's a duck".....
February 23, 200521 yr Author ESPRESSO makes a decent martini...even if it is in the wrong glass... Actually I do not often go out to Soi 2 and never to DJ.

February 26, 200521 yr Never go to karaoke with a group of kathoeys!!! [well, unless you're really into the whole karaoke thing]"Steven" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In my case (with a basso profundo voice), never go to karaoke at all unless you know 100% that they have Paul Robeson's Greatest Hits available on the machine - or at least "Ol' Man River"............. There's no way I can compete with any Thai guy on hitting those high notes they love. Well, OK - after a few drinks, I can just about hold my own with "Noo York, Noo York" (who can't?). Gave up on "My Way" long ago - too many of the audience have dozed off by the time I've finished. Doo-be-doo-be-doo................
