Chesty Puller started out as an enlisted man in the U.S Marine Corps and performed many heroic acts. He was promoted to an officer, but never forgot what it was like to be a little guy and was known for taking the side of the lower ranks when they were in the right. Chesty is loved by most Marines.

His son Lewis had his legs blown off in Vietnam where he was also an officer. He wrote a Pulitzer Prize winning book about his experience and trying to fill the boots of a living legend. He eventually commited suicide as he just could not take life with such a major injury. :)

Lieutenant General Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller (June 26, 1898 – October 11, 1971) was an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Puller is the most decorated U.S. Marine in history, and the only Marine to receive five Navy Crosses, the United States Navy's second highest decoration after the Medal of Honor. During his career, he fought guerrillas in Haiti and Nicaragua, and participated in some of the bloodiest battles of World War II and the Korean War. Puller retired from the Marine Corps in 1955, spending the rest of his life in Virginia.
