Have a friend in his 60's from the UK.

He has asked me if I can get information on what may be the best visa set up for him. I have scanned through the visa section but am still not sure, so,

He now has Non O multiple entry visa for 1 year to visit friends issued in the UK and he is on his last 90 days now.

He would prefer not to have to travel back to the UK every 15 months for a non O.

1) Apart from going back to the UK can he get a non O in the Asia region?

2) What are the current requirements for a retirement visa for a single man?

3) What paperwork would he need?

4) As he does not want to do border runs or tourist visas, are there any other options available?

Apologies if this is available in the section but I did not see all I needed to be sure of advising him for the best.

His best option is twelve monthly extensions from Immigration.

Requirements here.

2.22 In the case of a retiree: Permission will be granted for a period of not more

than 1 year at a time.

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM);

(2) The applicant is 50 years of age or over;

(3) Proof of income of not less than Baht 65,000 per month; or

(4) Account deposit with a bank in Thailand of not less than

800,000 Baht as shown in the bank account for the past 3 months at the filing date of the application. For the first year, the applicant should have that amount in his bank account for not less than 60 days or

(5) Annual income plus bank account deposit totaling not less

than Baht 800,000 as of the filing date of application

If he can show (bank letter and pass book) that he has more than B800,000 in a (Thai) bank for the past 3 months, he should be able to apply for an extension of 1 year on the basis of a retiree.

Thanks for the above info.

Will he need letters from anyone or photographs etc to apply for the 12 monthly extensions?

As far as I know, all he needs is a bank passbook updated on the day of application as well as a letter from his bank stating that he has had B800K in the a/c for more than 3 months. Maybe a medical cert (B40 from any clinic) may prove helpful, although I think it's not needed. He should apply at least 25 days before the visa expiry.

As I said, this is as far as I know. You should check with mods or first hand parties.

For a twelve month extension based on retirement he will need.

Letter from the UK Embassy verifying his income if using income. Letter from his Thai Bank if using the money in the bank route. Plus an up to date bank book showing the same balance. The money has to be in the bank at least 2 months before applying. Medical Certificate is not needed.

Application Form. 1,900 Baht fee. Passport size photo. His Passport of course with the relevant pages copied.
