Immigration Officers can ask for whatever they want. Nong Kai have a reputation for having requirements that are bit out of the ordinary.

My landlord provided the documents and all was OK

They are just checking that you live at the same address.

Astral, was this a one year thing or does your landlord provide this stuff every year ? I mean, do you get some letter about this. At some Imm Offices the officers "roulate" frequently.
