Will I Lose My Visa If I Travel Oustide Thailand A Few Days?

Featured Replies

I have a student visa, next 31th of july I have to make my 3rd extension and I'm going to Malaysia 4 days on 3th August and maybe I will visit Myanmar for a few hours a few days later.

Will I lose my student visa if I do this? I think I need to apply for a re-entry permit? I'm not sure how to do this :'(

N. of entry says "S"

Thanks for any info

You will lose your permission to stay unless you get a Re Entry Permit. Apply at Immigration. Cost 1,000 Baht. You will need a passport size photo and this form.

Sorry to show my ignorance but does this also apply to Non-Immigrant 'O' Visas ?

I typically stay in Thailand for 10 weeks at a time but take the opportunity to visit nearby countries. If, for example, I go to Bali for a week are there any implications for my Visa ?

To be honest the OP was not really clear as to what he really had. If you do not have a Multi Entry the permission to stay expires when you leave unless you have a Re Entry Permit.

If you have a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa there is no problem

If you have a multi entry non-o VISA obtained from a consulate or emabassy outside Thailand then you can exit and enter as many times as you like during the life of that visa.

Any form of extension obtained from immigration in Thailand will die when you exit the Kingdom unless a re-entry permit has been obtained.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

You will need a re entry permit if you are leaving Thailand and intend to come back to Thailand within the duration of any type of visa. Basically your visa is canceled when you leave because, well, you're leaving. To keep your visa active so you don't have to apply for a new one once you've left the country you'll need the re entry permit.

For example, I'm on a single entry one year extension of stay on a Non-B visa. My extension expires on the 9th October. If I leave Thailand for a trip to say, Laos, on the 5th August and intend coming back on the 10th August my visa will be canceled on the 5th because I've left the country. To put my extension on hold I get a re entry permit and when I come back to Thailand on the 10th August my extension will be reactivated and still expire on 9th October. If i didn't get a re entry permit my extension would be canceled when I left and I'd have to get a new visa while I was out of the country.

The exception to this is if you have a multi entry visa where you don't have to get a re entry permit because, as the name suggests, you can come and go as you please within the duration of your visa.

I stand to be corrected of course!

Thanks for the clarification.

I forgot to say that I had a multiple entry visa - sorry, I guess the clue was there all along if I had looked hard enough :)

Hello, anybody home, reentry permit please at your local Immigration office :D:D:D:):D

OP

If you are making two trips out of Thailand you'll need either 2 single re-entry permits or 1 multiple re-entry permit.

You can obtain a re-entry permit on ANY kind of visa. :)

aha that's what I wanted to know about re-entry permit. So multiple re-entry to can get it the same way as a single? And if I make another extension of my visa in three years and I got the multiple re-entry permit I can stay use? And how much will cost? :)

Sorry if my questions are too stupid :D

Any re-entry permit, single or multiple, is only good as long as your current date to stay until.

When you extend your visa, or leave the country and get a new one, you'll need a new re-entry permit.

I think a single is 1000 baht. Once used, it's gone.

A multiple is 3800 baht. It can be used as many times as you want.
