the international news has reported that the death toll from the consumption of bootleg booze at a party in Gujarat, India is now 71. OK it is India not Thailand but my point is;

We have just had 2 days of enforced restricted access to alcohol here (and there has been a wide variety of views on TV).

Gujarat does not allow the sale of alcohol.

It follows then that those that want to will go to some lengths to get their fix and without access that is reasonable and controlled, dangerous illegal activities can and will happen. Here is a theory;

Whenever the world swings from a time of plenty to a time of economic chaos it is accompanied with probibition of a multitude of activities that the righteous seem to impose only to invite crime and suffering
