The British government are not just going to allow you to bring a person from a 3rd world country in without any questions. Have you not heard of immigration? You would be allowed to bring her in if she meets the requirements of immigration. If she is a girlfriend, then you would have to prove this, and you would have to apply at the British embassy in Bangkok. You and your girlfriend would most likely be called back for an interview (probably 6 weeks later). Unless you can prove that you have a close and strong relationship, she will not get a visa.

Have you tried looking around the Thai visa site, or searching the forum? There is plenty of information available.

Finally, there are a lot of women in Thailand (and other poor countries) who would love to have a benevolent foreigner remove them from poverty. This is a very polite way to say some people will do anything to get themselves out of poverty, including pretending to love you, telling you all sort of lies, hiding the fact that they already married or have a relationship with a local, etc, etc. Don't expect to find the same level of honesty that you are used to in your peer group. That is not to say all Thai ladies are like this, just many!

Lecky  without knowing the girl you'll come unstuck with Immigration at the outset. They'll be interested to know how she will live during the holiday. Has she got a job...or a compelling reason to return to Thailand after the visit, money in the bank ? They suspect the worst of all applicants anyway.

Really it depends on her circumstances.

If she has a house , car , savings and full time employment she would probably be givien a visa without your help.

My girlfreind did not need me to help her get a UK visa.

The government(UK) is quite generous at giving visas to people who they think have no intention of staying longer than their visa. Quite like the Thai government come to think of it.

I think the crucial question is: why have you not been to Thailand???

It is a country that teaches you to look at your own country in a totally different light, if you stay long enough. Both good and bad sides. If you have health problems like I have - 45 years of diabetes, problems with walking - suddenly you will discover that lots of people do not treat you as OLD. They might joke and walk as you do, with no ill intent. Like my "little beggar girl" in Bangkok who is the only one I give cash to, 100 Baht an evening maximum except when I leave - and I am sure she will be there when I come for the fifth consecutive winter in a month. And if I need something she gets a bill and runs like a cute monkey to get it! Her English is very good, but at - 12 I think - she has lots to learn still. Maybe I should adopt her.......

Bringing a Thai girl here (I am in Sweden)? Why not let her bring you there?

You waqnt to get a Thai girl to the UK, but you've never been to Thailand? Obviously she has never been to the UK either otherwise why the query.

Did you get her out of a catalogue?

The UK Embassy will simply not believe that you have a relationship. They will believe that she wishes to go to the UK for reasons other than to be your wife (the old primary reason that takes down most applications at a stroke).

Under what conditions are you bringing her: fiance, nanny, sextoy? If the first your chances are pretty low if not existant - if the latter two, then your chances are worse!

They are probably doing you a favour. If she is willing to move in with you when she has never met you, the odds are she is simply using you as a means. Odds are she will disappear into the night once in the UK and you'll be poorer and more miserable to boot. Go out and see her - several times - collect photos and letters (keep the envelopes as it proves time-investment with the franking). Get to know her and let her get to know you.

The Embassy are experts at spotting 'fake' relationships and allwyas err on negative side. Many following all the standard practices are knocked back, without seeing her anbd not being wed, will probably not get as far as an interview.

Well, if the UK embassy is anything like the US one, they will happily collect all sorts of application and interview fees and make you stand in line for hours on several different occasions before they grant a 20 second interview to reject you.

I have spent some time at the US embassy getting a visa for my gf, and seen plenty of mild-mannered thai's completley lose their shit when they find out they have paid small fortunes and substantial ammounts of time just to be turned away in a matter of seconds at the interview.

Even if your relationship is longterm and legit, you better have a mountain of evidence to prove it to them.  It's guilty until proven innocent with the visa process in Bangkok.

The treat you differently if you are married; well I mean the British Embassy. We Brits have a thing about the institution of marriage.

I think the Brit Embassy do a good job; think of it this way, they will save you a lot of grief rather than you having to do it later after you have spent a lot of money, and the little lady has played with your mind. Poor people in 3rd world countries have an amazing ability to survive, and some people will do anything to better their position in life.

Singapore is a favoured nation. Hop on in to a British Embassy or High Commission and apply for a visa.
