July 16, 200916 yr Wow, what a great site - pity i had never come across it before! Ive been searching the Net for information regarding getting a Thai visa in Suvarnnakhet (how i found this site). Some places (like here) have said that it's fine, but on another two sites, they said the Thai consulate in Suvarnnakhet doesnt give or like to give out visas to foreigners. Can anyone give the exact advice. I would love to go there (Pakse) instead of Vientiane.
July 16, 200916 yr They are not very helpful or friendly. Thai is why most applicants go to Vientienne. For a single Tourist Visa you should be ok.

Unhelpful and unfriendly... hee hee.. sounds like most embassies/consulates. But if they do give out visas then stlii better for me than Vientiane. Actually, since i got a teaching job i'll be applying for a non-immigrant visa. You think any problams getting that there?
July 16, 200916 yr I got an Non Immigrant 'O' (Marriage) visa there a month ago. They were no better and no worse than any other consulate that I have ever been to. I had the paperwork as per the requirements, Submitted my application early AM and picked it up next afternoon with no hassles
July 16, 200916 yr Pakse and Savannkahet are two different cities. There is no Thai Consulate in Pakse.

I have a week off work. Two more things, when getting a Thai visa in Laos do you pay in Kip, Baht or Dollars?? Can i pay for Lao visa on entry in Baht or only Dollars?
