Maximum Visa Granted In 12 Months

Featured Replies

Hi

Is there a maximum amount of visa's that a person can have to enter the uk in 12 months? for eample after the end of a 6 month visitor visa, can she go back and get another 6 months or does she have to wait a period of time?

Many thanks

Terry,

There is nothing preventing someone from immediately applying for another visa but the visa officer may refuse it if he thinks that the person will end up spending more time in the UK than their home country; i.e. that they are living in the UK on visit visas.

If the person has spent only a few weeks in the UK there should be no difficulty reapplying after 2 or 3 months. If they've spent a considerable length of time in the UK I'd give it a bit longer before reapplying.

Cheers,

Scouse.

As I have said here:-

"Ray Keen (who is not an ECO, but seems to be the person at the embassy who answers queries) said in reply to an e-mail that a second visit visa is unlikely to be issued if it means the applicant spending more than 6 months out of 12 in the UK."

Thanks Guys

Just one more question, would an offer of work for the lady help with her application for settlement visa? she is married to an Englishman in the UK.

Many thanks

Terry

Terry,

If she's applying for another visit visa she should follow the guidance above and not mention work when applying for the visa as visitors aren't allowed to do so.

If the lady in question will be applying for a spouse visa as she is married to a Brit then she doesn't have to wait to apply for this and she would be entitled to work in the UK. If financial support is an issue then showing that she has a job to go to can help her application.

Cheers,

Scouse.

Also, if she is married to an Englishman who lives in the UKand has a job offer in the UK, then why does she want repeat visit visas? Why not go for a spouse visa? Then she can come and go without restriction.

Although she does have to spend a minimum amount of time in the UK to qualify for ILR.
