I use 008 mainly, seems to give good rates and the sound quality is OK. Dee Dial costs 0.99 baht per minute, but the sound quality can be iffy.

Look into the calling cards. We use one and pay somewhere around 0.5 to 0.75 baht per minute to the U.S. and Germany. Maybe a little more or a little less, but significantly less than using the 007-009 options.

We buy them for 300 baht. Choice of Thai or English when connected to the service. After dialing the number, the service will tell us how many minutes we have left for talking to that number/country.

That are good rates!! Actually, about the same as SKYPE. Guess these calling cards do use internet connections.

local connection number + PIN nr + phone nr which I want to call ?

I got frustrated with the many redials because I got 1 of the 20plus digits wrong.

I use CAT telecom too. Don't know about Germany, but to the US i get 15 hours for 1,000 baht, and you only get charged for the minutes used. I think it is a pretty good deal!
