Oa Visa

Featured Replies

I have an multy entry OA visa issued in London. I understand if I depart and return before my visa ends (7/9/09) I will get a further 12 mths before applying for an extension.

1.Does this apply to any border run (ie Laos by land)

2.Do I need to be out of LOS for any period of time?

Thanks

Any border. You only have to leave, turn round and come back. One minute or as long as you want.

Pls ensure you renew your entry approval prior to leaving again

Believe above post is to obtain a re-entry permit [rior to leaving for any travel that will have you return later than your visa is valid (7/9/2009).

I will be back before the 7/9/09; I think I'm correct in saying that my multi entry then ceases and i will require a re-entry permit from there on?

Correct.

So am I correct in understanding the multi entry part of the O-A visa is only valid for the first year and is not renewed automatically or otherwise at the same time as the visa is renewed on re-entry?

Thanks in advance.

It is only valid for a new entry when the visa is valid. One year from date of issue.

Many thanks.

To confirm.

The holder of a multi entry O-A visa is granted the right to stay for one year from the date of entry.

During this period the holder must report every 90 days.

During the first 12 months the right to stay is extended by a further 12 months from the date of each re-entry.

To maintain the right to extend the stay for a further 12 months after leaving Thailand more than one year from the date of first entry, each time the holder must apply for a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand.

Correct except that 90 day reports are only required if you do not travel for more than 90 days. If you travel often you may never have to do as the count starts over again on each entry into Thailand.
