60 Day Visa Extenstion

Featured Replies

I have a friend who will be visiting from Hong Kong, she is on a Filipino passport and managed to get a 60 day VISA from the local Thai Consulate in Hong Kong.

I was just wondering, would it be cheaper to NOT PAY the 1900 thb price to extend her visa for another 30 days at the local Thai Immigration office and just do one of those "Visa runs" to get another 60 days (advertised for 2300 thb)?

Am I misunderstanding something?

Thank you

If she does a "VisaRun" she will get 30 days by air or 15 days by land.

If she goes to a Thai Consulate in a neighbouring country she can apply for a 60 day Tourist Visa. These Visas are free at the moment.

Yes, I understand, she will be arriving into Thailand already with a 60 day visa, if she planned to stay for a 6 month period, what would be the most economical way?

I understand you can only extend a 60 day visa once (30 day extension) for 1,900 baht in Thailand, whereas the above ad claims they can obtain another 60 day visa w/ 30 day extension (although free in other countries) for a fee of 2300 baht which includes transportation/food/etc, hassle free.

I guess I would be willing to pay this fee to avoid all the hassles of crossing the border, completing all the necessary paperwork, dealing with Imm, etc.

thank you

It is really up to her.

Depending on where she will be staying in Thailand it may be cheaper to go to a Consulate in a neighbouring country and get a free Visa. Giving her 60 days that can be extensded for a further 30 days at Immigration.

She can even get a Double Entry Tourist Visa from Vientienne Laos free of charge if she wanted.

Or She may prefer the organised trip. Whatever She chooses she will have to leave the country and apply for a Visa.

That price is for the 60 day visa service - not for the extension of stay which has to be applied for and paid in Thailand to Immigration after return. The extra 30 days will be another 1,900 baht. They are not going to pay for the extension of stay. They are just saying the visa can be used for 60 + 30.

Thx, I guess if she is going to stay over 90 days, it would be worth the 2300 baht to maka a VISA run for another 60 day visa instead of extending VISA in Thailand after 60 days (1900 thb) and then having to go across the border after 90 days and paying another 2300 baht.

Is there any restriction on the number of times you can cross the Thai border to obtain a 60 day visa?

No. But a Consulate could set there own limits; and have done so in the not too distant past.

Sorry for double posting, but I can't seem to find a straight answer on this:

Can I get a free 60 day single entry visa in Penang?

People keep mention 30 & 15 day extensions and fees!!!!
