July 22, 200916 yr I came to Thailand in in 2008 with a NonImmigrant O A multi-entry 12 month visa obtained in London that expired this week However I went to Malaysia last week and now have an entry stamp that allows me to stay in Thailand until July 2010 My question is if I want to go outside of Thailand before next July can I get re-entry permit or does it depend on the date of the visa rather than the entry stamp
July 22, 200916 yr You must obtain a re-entry permit prior to travel to keep your July 2010 date alive. The re-entry permit you can, and probably should, get soon as you can for insurance as they can be hard to get on short notice. You can put any travel dates down on the form. This will have a number which you use in the visa question for entry next time and the date will be the same July 2010 date you currently have for your permitted to stay until date. July 22, 200916 yr <However I went to Malaysia last week and now have an entry stamp that allows me to stay in Thailand until July 2010> Hi Rob, what did you do to get this new entry stamp. In 3 months my multiple-entry expires and i would like to do something similar, Thanks in advance, Leo
July 22, 200916 yr Just leave the country before the visa expires (not the permission to stay you get at the border), leave Thailand enter a neighbouring country, leave the neighbouring country and return to Thailand.

In 3 months my multiple-entry expires and i would like to do something similar, Thanks in advance, Leo This only applies to the milti entry non immigrant OA visa that provides a one year permitted to stay stamp on each entry - A normal multi entry visa only allows a 90 day stay and if you return any date prior to the expiration date of the visa itself (on the visa) you get another stamp for the full time allowed at any entry point. All you have to do is exit Thailand, enter another country and return before the expiration date. This does not apply for two/three entry type visas (that some people call multi but are not marked as "multi"). Edited July 22, 200916 yr by lopburi3

The passport will have two stamps: The stamp with the visa (from the embassy)and the stamp with your permission to stay from immigration. Only look at the VISA stamp, that will say signle or multiple. Check that carefully! If it says multiple, then no re-entry permit is need when leaving, provided the visa is still valid. If is says single, then a re-entry permit is needed. Is seems Nan is your ofice, so she has to apply there. Don't forget to bring a photo.

The official visa that we obtained at the Thai consulat in Antwerp-Belgiun state very clearly : Good for MULTIPLE journey(s) So , may I asume that this is o.k. and that we do not have to apply for one at NAN imm. ? Thank's Josef

Thank's Josef Correct, as long as the VISA is valid every time you enter Thailand you will get a new permisison to stay for 1 year. So if you leave and re-nter Thailand just before the visa expires, you will get a full extra year out of the visa! (But after the VISA expires, you would need to get a re-entry permit to keep the permisison to stay alive. If you leave without a re-netry permit you would have to get a new visa to return to Thailand).
July 23, 200916 yr What is the date of issue/expiration of the visa? When will your wife leave and return? Those dates a critical to provide an answer. If wife return is beyond the expiration date on visa itself she must obtain re-entry permit. If not she has the choice to use old visa for a new one year stay on return or obtain a re-entry permit and use that to keep the July 2010 date the same as you. Yes if using Nan that is where you should apply for re-entry permit. Edited July 23, 200916 yr by lopburi3

I have O A non immigrant who will expire next month. But they told me in phuket immigration i have to put 800000 bath to get a new one.THANKS
July 23, 200916 yr If you have an OA multi entry visa from a Consulate (issued in home country with medical and police report) that allows a one year stay on entry you can make a trip out just before the visa expires and when you return you get a new one year stay stamp. This can only be done with a multi entry OA visa while it is valid. Any travel after the visa expires must have a re-entry permit to return with the same permitted to stay date.
