I been to Thailand once, it was during high season, absolutely love how its packed with people tourists, expats and thai girls.

My friends went to Thailand during low season .. spent most of their time in Pattaya during that time, and absolutely loved how cheap everything was.

Next time I go I wish to do 2 months worth of Muai Thai training and then 1 month of partying. I'm just wondering what Thailand is like during low season, for example is the weather still enjoyable?

If i went to the full moon party during low season would it still have lots of people? What has everyone's experiences been like during low season in main tourist areas such as Phuket, Pattaya, Bangkok, Koh Samui?

Hmm, first you wanted to work in thailand as an accountant, now you want to learn muay thai and party. You absolutely love Thailand yet you've only been there for one short holiday previously in pattaya.

You should make your mind up first.

Strange.....Very strange.

I know what you mean. I loved Thailand a lot when I first visited. I was not halfway through my first holiday when I was making plans for my 2nd visit back.

If yow concerned about the heat than the low season may be too hot for you. I enjoy the heat and simply accept it, keep in mind that I have only been to Thailand once during low season. While I did enjoy my time there, a few things took were unfortunate. During low season you may venture into a bar and find that you are the only customer there with all the staffs eyes trained on you.

Some of the street vendors you enjoyed during high season may not be there or have moved to a different area or is back on the farm waiting for high season to return.

But if you truly love Thailand than none of that will matter in the least. Just come and enjoy the High as well as the Low! (Said from my office desk here in Delaware USA).

There is the good and the bad in either season. A lot depends on what you are looking for, and no two people are the same. I've been following all the poor me topics and that is to be expected. No one place is perfect for eveyone. Only you can decide. Some people like lots of action and others like a quiet life style with one pretty lady tucked away somewhere in the country or on a secluded beach. There ARE secluded beaches in Thailand... but they aren't anywhere close to the bar scene.

I believe the highest point in Thailand is about 8,000 feet and many hill tribe villages get quite cold even during the hottest season.

Its a fact that there are less tourists now because of the economy and other reasons.

Still, that would never keep me away from visiting Thailand.

You only have to read some of the forums (Pattaya,Phuket and Koh Samui) to get a feel for whats going

on.

I say go.Go and spend your money in LOS.Right now there is many cheap deals for hotels or bungalows.

Hello, I want to move to Thailand full stop, and enjoy every aspect that Thailand has to offer its something I wish to work towards in the long term and at this point in time I'm trying to work out how I would do that as I would need to work and support myself and have a comfourtable lifestyle there but also have some sort of retirement plan and the flexibility to still travel to other places (being aware that this is not an easy task in a place like Thailand). But at this point I am going there for a holiday too. I went to Thailand for a month, I did 2 weeks of Muai Thai training in Phuket, visited Koh Samui and Pattaya (really wish I visited more places).. I was there for a month and absolutely loved everything about it.. My next holiday I'm going there for 3 months, want to train for 2 months and party for 1 month.. and also learn a bit more about the culture, possibly take some lessons in learning the language from a tutor while I'm training. Ultimately if was to chose a destination to live it would be definitely Phuket.

I guess what I wanted to know is... are there still lots of tourists there? And how much does it actually rain? And how much cheaper is everything?

There are less tourists, it rains non stop for a few days then is fine then rains and is fine etc, andaman coast can be dirt cheap in low season away from Phuket, samui/phangan less affected on price in my experience.

Where and when are you looking to go r4izOr?

Well everywhere really.. start off in Phuket (to do my training), then my friends arrive stay in Phuket for another week or so, head to Koh Samui, do the full moon party thing (another thing I did not get to do).. do Koh Phi Phi for a few days, from there I would ideally like to check on Chang Mai and Bangkok (again didnt do that last time), then head to Pattaya and back home..

a very small low season full moon party will be a minimum of 5000 people. Many people find the high season FMP's too full, with too many people to really enjoy.

Rain or shine, the party goes on, but check your dates as the party will be delayed a day if there is a major Buddhist holiday. Also, I would suggest that if you want to go in the low season, you are better off heading over a couple of days early to get accommodation on Koh Phangan as low season weather can be rough and I wouldn't recommend the speedboat rides over from Samui in bad weather.

If i end up going low season, doing my training during March/April then partying in May.. (IF we do decide to go low season) it was basically my mate who went to Pattaya alone during low season thats come up with the idea of going there during this time, mainly wants to go then as thats when he can go.. on the other hand I prefer to go high season as generally I feel that it will be more fun to go then (due to more people, tourists etc.) on top of that the weather sort of sounds better during that time too.. but I really want to do Thailand with this guy because hes a good mate and knows the place inside out but it was just his first time there during low season.. if I end up going high season.. start of december through to the end of february

It doesn't seem a problem to me which of these times you choose of course it will be much hotter in March/April and you should realise Songkran will be busy.

No problems with too much rain unless you visit Samui in early December.

Have a great trip!
