That one I believe is venomous. Just how bad the bite is I don’t know.

I was kicking a few away with bare feet not so long back thinking they were harmless like huntsman spiders I’m familiar with when a group of friends and family all told me to be careful as this one will make you sick.

This is a kind of huntsman spider, they aren't dangerous at all, just scary looking. Extremely common in Oz, suprised you haven't had them in your house before. But they can run and jump like hel_l though. A guy at uni was working on them, he would pick them up in his hands no problem. Yuk!

I nearly ended up with one in my mouth when I was sucking on a hose to drain a fish pond once. It had crawled up inside and the water drove it out. Very close call, still makes me cringe just thinking about it.

Looks the same as ones that occasionally "visit" me in the house, also about 10 cm. Is it the same as this one which I found outside sometime ago? I put it in a topic here and was informed it was a cane spider and not dangerous.

That’s what I thought too Crushdepth. There were a few different types of spiders that had ventured onto the patio during a storm that evening. It was a group of farmers and they weren’t concerned about the other types that looked dangerous to me, only this one.

I think the spider in Tywais’s pic is a different spider.

You may be right. Seems there was one in the house yesterday more closely matching the OPs photo. The sister-in-law took a broom to it and ended up looking like a dust ball. :) It also was a very fast mover.

im not a fan of spiders especially the big ones here

the small one i saw on a wall in a temple ..... ok by me : )

the big one was trying to hide between my bathroom window and the flyscreen : ( ..... a definate no no by me !

i opend the window a bit and luckily it went outside and i helped it move away from my room by sweeping a grass broom

near it and he moved fast !

it actually tried to attack the broom twice so venomous or not i dont care , but i would rather they stay away from me

enjoy pics .... dave2

Hi, Just got back from the doctor and he said I have a spider bite. It started on Thursday with a small itchy area. As the day went on it became bigger and painful. Friday I had a largish area looking like a boil with a large red area around it and I was running a temperature. Saturday the redness had gone down a little and my temp gone. Sunday the area is still very hot and the lump getting pussy so I go the docs. He said a spider with a venom that kills flesh, going to have a nice 2 baht sized scar when it heals. The doc gave me antibiotics, felt rough all day.

Anybody know what kind of spider it might have been? I never felt a thing and not sure when or where I got bitten? Any feedback much appreciated.

David

You're from Australia and don't recognise a harmless huntsman? You surprise me..
