My quess would be no, you do not need one for 2 weeks, but you should check to be sure:

1. Search the web: google Taiwan visa

2. Google: Taiwan embassy Thailand and check their web site for visa requirements and consulate in Chiangmai, if there is one.

3. Call China Airlines local office and ask them

For a stay under 30 days no visa is required:

IATA states the following:

Passport required.

- Nationals of the U.S.A. may enter with passports valid on

arrival.

Passport Exemptions:

- Holders of Emergency or Temporary passports.

Visa required, except for A max. stay of 30 days for nationals

of the U.S.A. (not applicable to holders of passports valid

for less than 6 months, nor to holders of Emergency or

Temporary Passport, who must obtain a visa on arrival).

Visa Issuance:

- On arrival: if required, at TPE and KHH, a visitor visa for

a max. stay of 30 days (stay starts from day after arrival

and is not extendable), (SEE NOTE 2664) issued to nationals

of U.S.A. holding passport valid less that 6 months , or

holding Emergency or Temporary passports. FEE:
