Carlosm
Does anyone know of any hotels that are offering specials or discounts due to it being out of season and low on tourists. Also, wheres the best place to but packs of fresh sausages and bacon ? I live in Phetchabun and they dont have any western style food outlets Also, where apart from soi2, beach road and walking street are there decent bars to go to with live music but reasonably priced beer? SurfRider
"wheres the best place to buy packs of fresh sausages and bacon?"" I'd suggest S.S. Sausage on Naklua Rd. ( the extension of Pattaya 2nd Rd. north of the dolphin roundabout at North Pattaya Rd. ( Pattaya Nua Rd. ) -- Only a few blocks up on the left. From a Pattaya Today newspaper review: "S.S. Sausage company on the ocean side of the street opposite Soi 23. This place sells turkey, lamb and other small goods which you may not find elsewhere. I would suggest that sausage connoisseurs (there are quite a few in Pattaya) would be impressed with the range of products on offer." http://translate.google.co.th/translate?hl...l%3Den%26sa%3DG http://www.google.co.th/search?hl=en&q...mp;aq=f&oq=

Humphrey Bear
There were other threads on here regarding sausages, and Mr Moo seemed to fit the bill. But that's at the Southern end of town. Use your <search> facility. Bars with music and reasonable beer? One or two around walking street, esp. The Blues Factory on Soi Lucky Star, if that type of music is your bag. Plenty of disco-style places, but mainly catering to Thais. Two or three on WS that take on all-comers.

NanLaew
Buying bulk at SS may be fine but you may end up with a huge frozen pile of sausages that you may get bored with. I think the best selection of meats including sausages is at Friendship. That way you can mix up the selection and have non-commercial sized slabs to defrost. BTW, there's a great new farang food emporium has opened up in Udon Thani (PM me for details) so consider that as your next venue for meat purchases. Or Soi 6 of course.... Walked down Soi Honey Inn the other night and the Sawasdee Sunshine hotel was priced at 380Bht incl breakfast, it has no pool but it is only a two minute walk to the Siam Sawasdee where you can use their pool I think that this is a good price for budget accomodation at the moment. As for bacon and sausage, Villa supermarket at the Avenue shopping centre on 2nd rd sells frozen catering packs of Porkies brand at very good prices, the sausages are English breakfast or cumberland and come in packs either six large or twelve small for 106 Bht ,the bacon comes in several cuts in 1 Kilo packs for around 215 Bht. Several live music bars with reasonably priced drinks, We are the world bar on beach rd just before Soi 7 and 8, the Bodega bar 2nd rd corner of Soi post office with early evening happy hour , Wonderful bar 1 and Wonderful bar 2 both on 2nd rd a short walk going north from Soi post office. Seems you know Pattayta well. Will have a look at Mr Moo's shop. As for price renge... up to 550bt but woundering if there was any spacials on such as buy one day get one free. Heard a while back that with the recesion and low season that hotels were desperate so hoped someone might know of low price's or specials. Tried using google but no mention of special low season discounts. Leo's blues bar sounds like what i'm looking for... will give it a go.... thanks for that, Carl.
