Id For My (thai) Children

Featured Replies

I have two kids with my Thai wife, aged 6 and 8. Yesterday we went to the local office to apply for a Thai ID for them.

Indeed we were under the impression that now kids as young as 2 can have an ID in Thailand, but the officials there just laughed at us and said they are too young.

Does anyone have confirmed information about the minimum age for kids to have their own ID card?

PS: We live in Bangkok, Latkrabang district

ID card is issuedd when they are 15 years old.

If you want an ID you can apply for a Thai passport.

Thanks Mario.

Do I get that straight? The kids cannot (yet) get an ID card, but they can get a passport? Not just a page in mum's passport?
