Hi , l would like to take my 10y/o daughter(by marriage) to Australia in November for a couple of weeks ,,does anyone have any experience in getting a visa for that situation , is it just a sraight forward tourist visa ? or is there extra requirements ,, l know the embassy is the place to ask ,, but often it is better to seek someones personal experience first .

thanks for any help

Just a word of advice ; If it is your daughter by marriage , make sure you have her fathers permission to take her out of Thailand (i persume her father is Thai) otherwise you will be stopped at immigration gates from getting on the plane even if all your other paper work is in order.

Thanks for that Xen ,, sad to say her father is deceased ,,, so l am guessing that will not be a problem ,,,, or it could be one big problem ,,, but l am thinking it should be pretty straight forward ,,, l just wonder if she will need her own passport or can she travel on mine ?? ,, and maybe it is possible for her to get Aus citizenship ,, it is all a new experience for me and l am sure it will be a bigger one for her

thanks and cheers Xen

Straight forward visa.........

Brought the 12yo stepson out a couple of years ago......no permission needed by the father.....wife supplied three stat decs to say that he had no part in the upbringing. If the father is deceased then be prepared to supply some proof, just in case.

She is your daaughter by marriage.......therefore she cant travel on your passport, she will need her own.

Again she is your daughter by marriage......she cant get citizenship unless she is a permanant resident here.
