Re-entry Permit

Featured Replies

Aplogies if this has been done to death already.

I today collected my new passport from Uk embassy, went to Immergration Suan plau (probally spelt incorrectly) had all my stamps moved over. Then noticed they had not moved my multiple re-entry stamp over they told me to go to counter 7 which i did.

Lady there told me she can not move my stamp as it was done at the airport and i should go there to do it and its free. Was concerned about this so called Immergration at the airport, who told me they would not move the stamp to my new Passport but all i needed to do was to carry both my new and old passport and give both passport whne i go through Immergration comming back into Thailand.

She stated that they will use my permit from the old passport and no problem my stay would be stamped in my new passport up to expiry date of the re entry permit in old passport.

My question is, is that correct, any ody had experiance of this bearing in mind the old passport is no longer valid.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Yes, that is correct, they do not transfer the visa, just the other stamps.

Thank you for such a quick reply, really appreciate it, so basically that means i need to show both passports on my return through immergration at airport.

Thanks again for your help

He is talking about the re-entry permit and normally it is transferred in my understanding - but it acts as a visa for entry and a visa in an expired passport is not a problem and still valid - so should not be a problem using it.

My understanding is that it should be transferred over, but as said no problem as long as you carry both passports.
