Im rethinking Koh Samui and thinking about going to Hua Hin instead. Does any one have recommendations about how to get there and where to stay? I want to stay right on the beach because I cant walk very far due to a handicap. And I cant climb stairs too well, if I haver to I can climb 3 or 4 max, so a hotel with a lift/elevator would be great. Even better would be a cottage right on the beach that I can open my door and look out on the water.

My budget is around 1000 per night max including wifi. Not sure if this is possible.

You can take the train. I have done that a couple of times and enjoyed the journey, although once seating was a problem.

I like the little Ban Boosarin Hotel, but it's not right on the beach (a 5 minute walk) and I don't remember whether or not it had an elevator.

I don't think of Hua Hin as much of a swimming beach. There is a great night market.

Baan Napapaan at Kao Takiab is on a good beach south of town on the daytime songtaew route, with first or second floor units.
