I currently hold a non-imm b which expires on monday and i am going to apply for a spouse visa, I am starting a new job next week, can i apply for a work permit on a spouse visa or do i need to go to penang for a new nom-im b in order for my employer to apply for a work permit. a quick response would be lovely as i have stupidly left it a bit late, thanks guys x
lopburi3
Not sure what you mean by "spouse visa" but if you mean change to O non immigrant type and then extend your stay on the basis of your marriage that should work. You should be able to obtain a work permit with the O visa but not all employers seem to be happy to do anything beyond what they know (and they lose a bit of control) so you may end up doing the paper work.
