Anyone Notice A Speed Improvement Or Latency Drop In International Connections Lately?

Featured Replies

The Asia-America gateway, a 1.92 terabit/s capacity cable from SE asia (including thailand) to the west coast of the US was supposed to go live in August. They never gave an exact date. I searched the web, news, and even emailed the asia-america-gateway.com people, without response.

So anyway... it has been a topic of discussion whether or not this cable would improve the international internet situation in Thailand. Has anyone noticed either faster speeds or decreased latency to the US lately? Or does anyone have any info on when this cable will go live, or if it is live already?

No.

It appears to me that the reverse is true - I am having the worst international speeds for ages.

Some of the undersea cables were damaged recently in aisa - i think it was either a result of the earthquake or storms in the area - i remember something about mudslides or similar - there is a thread about it somewhere on Thaivisa.

I havent experienced any noticable differences with speeds to the US (with the exception of a noticable slowdown these past few days due to the above)

No, from my site it has decreased since Sunday

Ok looks like this occurred recently, I guess it should be fixed soon.... so hopefully by end of month AAG will also be online and everything will be much improved? Wishful thinking?
