Am I Scuppered By The 30-day Rule?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have a very quick Visa question I hope you can help me with.

I'm a UK citizen who entered Thailand on a 60-day tourist Visa earlier this year and stayed there the whole time. Now I want to return for three days at the end of August and again for two weeks in October.

Will I automatically receive the 30-day Visa when I go back for the three days this month?

And if so, does that mean I can't return for a third time in October because 60 + 30 makes the full 90? Even though I'd only have been in the country for 63 days?

I hope you can help. Many thanks.

Jamie

You will have no problem on your subsequent trips at the end of August and in October.

Arriving at the airport you will get a 30 day visa exempt stamp.

I am not sure where you got the idea about a 90 day limit?

Thanks for that! I understood that you weren't allowed to accumulate more than 90 days' worth of Visas in a year.

There is currently no limit on the amount of time you can stay. I think you were referring to an old rule of not staying more than 90 days out of 180 on visa exempt entries.

There was a 90 day limit on "visa exempt entries" within 180 days, but it never had anything to do with entries with visas.
