Word For Widows Menu Problem

Featured Replies

One day I opened Word For windows on my MS Office 2000 and all my manus were gone…… :) …… nothing there, only the margin tabs, I tried everything to find where the were and to restore them , I was unable. So I decided to uninstall it and re install it. I Uninstall the program from the add remove program in the Control Panel, I turned the computer off, I restarted the computer, and re installed the program, when I turned Word for windows on again, it was still the same, no menu, I did a repair, and still no menu,

Can anyone give me some advise as to how I can find my menu?? By the way I run Windows XP operating system.

Thank you

Try this artice from M$ it may solve your problem

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;en-us;q242368

By the way, when you uninstall M$ office it does not remove any registry settings as they have decided that you may want to reinstall and retain your original settings!! unlike most decent software you are not give the choice this is why an uninstall and re-install will oten not fix M$ office problems, unless you also do a registry clean using a 3rd party product before reinstalling.

Thank you for your informative reply,

you pointed me in the right direction,

It appears that I have open the document in full screen mode and lost my menus, and now I cant restore them, Microsoft in their infinite wisdom advised me to, if I lost my menu to use the command in the menu to restore it, haaaaaaaaaaaaa.

They also say I can use the key shortcut alt+V to open the view menu and then U to restore the menu view, but when I pres alt+v nothing happens, so back to the drawing board,

But thank you for your help at least now I know what the problem is.

Hi ThaiMite

Knowing what the problem was , I did some research on Google and this is the advise I found in one of the word 200 forums

Use the Run and type in winword.exe /a.

It resets the menu bars. this is a long standing windows word bug according to Microsoft

I tried it, and my Menus are back :)

Thanks again for your reply :D
