Banglampu Or Silom

Featured Replies

Im currently in Malaysia and heading back to Bangkok for perhaps a month. Im curious to know whether Banglamphu or Silom would be better for: -

1. Finding a gym

2. Finding a place to stay that isnt adverse to me bringing a girl back (im not a sex tourist but I will be looking to meet at least one girl, and she will probably be Thai)

3. Living on the smallest amount of money as possible - comfortably (im backpacking, so comfort means 3 meals a day and a fan room with a bathroom - and gym membership but thats a necessary evil at the moment)

4. Would it be worth looking at an apartment?

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

(and yes i misspelt Banglamphu :))

i'll be stating at Riverside.it sounds like A good area.Close to the skytrain, food etc.

I would say Silom would be better. There is a calforina gym on Silom that is good. Where to stay not exactly sure, there are some hotels that a cheap on Suarwong allot of middle east a Indians stay in that area so I'm sure it's cheap, cant recall any names. If you stay on Surawong around the entrance to the expressway I believe there are 3 or 4 cheap hotels right there, then you can, however this is not close to the skytrain. You might want to check Madrid hotel on patpong, I think they offer low rates for a 1 month rental, last time I stayed there the room was only 500 baht a night right in the middle of patpong, can be a little loud at night. I also stayed at pavallion hotel on patpong, have not stayed there in about 2 years last time I stayed there it was 700 baht a night, I believe they have a mothly rate, short walk to the gym. There are some more cheap hotels on the small soi off of silom.

Do a search on the internet. I do like the silom area, patpong is right there, skytrain plenty of places to eat, both western food and cheap noodle shops.

hope this helps.

lol im a backpacker! :)

Khaosan area; Buddy's has gym--per day, monthly, or yearly. Around corner on Ratchadamnoen, another gym. (Buddy's rooms too expensive for my taste). K area less pollution than Silom. Many places to stay.

On block parallel to K. RD.: Rambuttri, after you cross Cha-ka-pong going towards water., prices for food less here, trees, more relaxed, not far from park and river.
