Is This A Thai Scam Or Not?

Featured Replies

Just received an email to say I have won $ US 1,000,000 in a POWER BALL INTERNATIONAL LOTTERY DRAWN IN BANGKOK THIS MONTH.

THE CONTACT PERSON IS REV.KANE LEE. PowerballTowers 45/4 Silom Road Radjamdamrin 23002 Bangkok

Tel 66.823- 337-743 and FAX 66 2734-5216 Strangely enough there is no response to these numbers but the phone does ring.

The email addres of the sender is quite cool

That is a new one for me.

So perhaps someone may care to check and report back. As I am 12,000 miles away a local could do it with less trouble than me.

Waiting with anticipation??? :)

How about I go collect the winnings for you for 50% commission :)

Oh I forgot I will need your banking details and pin number too :)

by the way

i dont think there is a building called powerballs on silom road

plus the post code for silom does not start with 23xxxx

Hello, this is a total scam and you should mess with them as much as possible. Maybe the BIB should be aware of this in Thailand, and it is an easy investigaton for them if they have a phone number and mail address. Cheers.

:) ... as with any vaguely suspect email, the answer is simply to cut and paste any section of the email into goole and press enter

Technically, it's not a Thai scam.

The vast majority of these scams are run by Nigerians who have built up a global network of (usually Nigerian) accomplices designed to make these scams look more credible.

I don't particularly like to single out a nationality like that, but unfortunately the facts speak for themselves. It has been estimated that 250,000 men in Lagos alone are engaged full-time in what is known as the 419 scam, and they have numerous accomplices in major cities all over Asia, and indeed the world.

They are involved in a range of frauds: lottery scams, romance scams, wash-wash, NOK, diplomat, Craiglist and eBay scams, hotel and rental scams and everything else they think they can get away with.

These are dangerous people, who will not hesitate to kidnap and kill victims, and should be avoided. That, unfortunately, also seems to be the policy of the BiB.

Delete the message to your spam folder. If it is to good to be true it is a scam. I've won several of these same lottery prizes this year. Also the director of the FBI want me to stop what I'm doing and collect millions of USD's in Nigeria I have on deposit or I will become subject of a US federal investigation. Several other strangers have emailed me from dirt poor countries offering me millions of $$$'s to do some bank transfers. If you respond to your lotto prize scam contact me and I'll send you at least 10 more you can possibly collect millions on.

The Reverend Kane stays mainly in Spain.

Phew The lottery's a scam, lots of that going around.

I thought from the title that your girl friends fathers buffalo had died for the third time this year. Now that could be possible, so you better send lots of cash to them. :)

Powerball Towers?? Never heard of such a place on Silom. :D

Maybe it's a typo and should read 'Patpong Towers'? :D

Did you pay to take part in this lottery?

Did your KFC bucket have participation in this lottery?

You can't 'win' without participation.
