ok, ten years later and i want to burn a cd. i don't understand why the cd says 80 minutes, or 700 MB. I want to put 700 MB of music on the Cd, not 80 minutes. How do i do this?

thanks,,,,

If what you want is a data cd of MP3 music that can be played on computer or a player designed to play MP3 just put 700 or a little less in MP3 files on it. If using XT built in system just drag and drop or send to CD and then burn it. If using another program just select data CD and burn the files onto it. You are not making a music CD; which is what the 80 minutes is all about.

thanks for the quick help, looking at nero a little more closely and i would have figured it out, but i was impatient to burn a cd for the dreaded cambodian visa run tomorrow....

It refers to 80 minutes of audio tracks, for a normal audio CD. An audio CD is recorded at 16bits, 44khz, if you do the math, that works out to around 700MB. Of course, MP3s are the rage now, and a CDR can hold a lot more than 80 minutes of MP3s.

If you're recording an audio CD, for a normal CD player, you'll only get 80 minutes worth. If you're recording a data CD, you'll get around 700MB.
