Investigating panel says PM's voice in audio clip not from his TV show

BANGKOK, 5 September 2009 (NNT) – A member in the fact-finding committee on political demonstrations has indicated that the voice of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva in the controversial clip did not come from Mr Abhisit's weekly television program as claimed.

Committee member and Puea Thai MP Woravat Auapinyakul said in a press conference that experts who helped inspect the audio clip said there were less than 10 edited parts in the clip. They also said the sentences ordering a violent crowd dispersal and accusing deposed PM Thaksin Shiwatra were real.

The experts include Central Institute of Forensic Science Director Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunan and Scientific Crime Detection Division Scientist Police Lieutenant Colonel Wiwat Sidhisoradej.

Mr Worawat added that the committee had checked tapes of the PM's program "Having Confidence in Thailand with Prime Minister Abhisit" on 19 and 26 April 2009 as Mr Abhisit claimed that his voice in the clip was taken from the mentioned episodes. He said the committee found that the PM's explanation that his voice in the program and that in the clip had different frequencies was false.

The MP said the committee would ask Mr Abhisit to bring the program's tapes and testify before the committee.

500,000 baht fine and 1 year in jail for that reporter.

No appeal, as we operate a democracy, well gunboat democracy.

I'm thinking of selling lie detector machines in thailand, do you think there is a market?

Find out for sure what he said.

Apart from the lie detector not being able to detect lies...you can probably make some money until someone decides they want to do it alone here and knocks you off. :)

Quoting Special Branch commander Pol Lt Gen Theeradij Rodphotong in the original report of the doctored tape: "It is unconfirmed whether the voice heard in the clip is the permier's. If the clip is not real, it is seamlessly edited."

There are a good number of Thais who are actually competent in their positions and professions, such as Pol Lt Gen Rodphotong whose analysis is lucid from the outset of this malicious attempted character assassination of the PM.

So clearly, it is time to call in the definitively sophisticated analysists who among other matters determine whether the voice of bin Ladin is real and actual to expose the sophisticated forgers and hired gun experts in electronic fraud purchased by Kuhnt Thaksin.

Wow, lets get this right.

The ventriloquist's dummy (abi) gives a message.

But the voice in the message is another's.

So who is operating the dummy ? icon5.gif

Some people in their posts are forever working feverishly and repeatedly trying to "let's get this right" with a preceding huffing and puffing of a "Wow." Now we have a new wrinkle, "dummy" as in a manequin that speaks at the hand of another. Cynicism rules in certain quarters, not to mention desperation.

Well get this right for a change: We know that Thaksin is the puppet master and he has a well heeled multiplicity of puppets in multiple places. No one is fooling anyone around here. This fact is not news to anyone at any of these forums.

Why can't you and your cronies agree to bring on the proven sophisticated analyists in electronic fraud and deceit perpetrated by global terrorists and others of the Thaksin ilk to expose the criminal for hire global underworld of highly priced cheats, swindlers and unconscienable electronic manipulators who will doctor anything for anyone for the right very high goobal price and rates? Why can you not agree to this?

Further, what say you to the point besides "Wow, let's get this right." :)

Nothing except more of the glib same.

Actually , had Lord Charles in mind, he looks like abi and is similarly gormless.

Not that I have anything against Lord Charles.

Yep, no problem with that.

Do it after free and fair elections, and the country returned to Democracy.

Even agree to you running the show, but nothing battery operated.ok

It's dull debating with Thaksin apologists because they don't accept that democracy means transparency, checks and balances and the rule of law as well as elections.

How many times did Thaksin answer questions in Parliament? Almost never, those duties were assigned to subordinates.

He even dissolved Parliament to avoid being grilled about Themasek!

The man is afraid of the pillars of democracy and hides behind numbers.

Thaksin used elections as a tool to rise to the top and rule over everybody else in an imperial manner. Other tools he tried for the same purpose were connections, bribery, money and advertising.

The idea that all citizens are equal is absolutely foreign to him, and everybody's equality is the starting point for any democracy.

What country are you referring to? There were never free and fair elections in Thailand. At best there are elections by rote: an extension of the indelible Thai tradition of doing as your elders tell you (or pay you) to do. Abhisit is in power now thanks to a parliamentary democracy, which is about as good as one can currently expect. Thaksin was run out of power because it was becoming increasingly obvious that he would stop at nothing to extend his power and wealth by bleeding Thailand dry.

Very good interview with Stephen Young in today's Nation (Thurs Sept.10). He's an internationally recognized expert on Thai history and politics. He pulls no punches in describing T as a Chinese-style control freak (my words). here are his words:

he's not really a Thai Thai. He has other ideas in his head. He does not say kreng jai. He does not think about merit and sin. He thinks about how he can be a powerful man. He wants to be the leader of everybody, the big boss of everybody. This kind of thinking to me reflects not Thai Buddhism, but Chinese imperial thinking. The imperial thinking of the Chinese emperor.

- Stephen Young, Nation newspaper interview

Some, like Shytalk and Koo will forever be apologists for T and his ilk. No amount of evidence to the contrary will sway them. It's like the mother of the murderer who never wavers from saying, "but he's really such a nice boy" despite the ton of evidence to the contrary.

Apologists;

one pro and the other amateur and a total zealot.

One I can forgive by dint of true belief vs pecuniary ameliorations..

The pro I can abjure for the lack of any obvious belief structure.

Shylock: To bait fish withal: if it will feed nothing else, it will feed my revenge.

Shylock: What! wouldst thou have a serpent sting thee twice?

Shylock: ...Why, revenge. The villany you teach me, I will execute,

and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction.

Indeed, just watched a Ted Bundy special the other night and his mom said she couldn't believe anything of it and she defended him all the way until his execution in -89.

The thot plickens!

What the hel_l is going to happen if the "investigating committee" decides that the clip is genuine? I wouldn't want to put my toe in that pot of boiling water, let alone be up to it in my neck.

there is a sudden silence and a lack of further news.

No, there is a sudden flurry of activity from a certain vocal clique on this forum trying to discredit anyone or any source oposing their world view with no snide remark too small to not be used.

It may be dull where you are, back in the dark ages, with your military coups and juntas,

But if thats where you want to be , your'e in good company.

Democracy starts with elections.

The people give their mandate to the manifesto of the representatives they elect via the ballot box.

If you havn't got that fundemental starting principle , you havn't got democracy.

If the people answer to the military , and not vice versa, you havn't got democracy.

The elected representatives of the people make the laws , if they don't, you havn't got democracy.

All are given their authority at the ballot box by the people, only the people can take it away.

Straight forward concept, unless it doesn't suit you.

Sounds like a rather good first day lecture from Civics 101. However nice the concept of a fair election is in principle, it's a rare event in Thailand. Pretty much everyone familiar with elections in Thailand, from all parties, will admit there's rampant vote buying as well as other abuses. Thaksin's legacy goes far beyond winning well-crafted, yet tainted elections. Each of us can look at the long list of serious abuses he's accused of, and decide for ourselves individually whether the accusations are valid or not. I believe a coup is a necessary evil when the elected person(s) have so perverted their mandate, that to allow him/them to stay in power would cause increasingly grave harm to citizens. Again, how much harm T caused Thailand is debatable. I guess it's incumbent on all who care about Thailand and its people, to garner as much info as they can, and make choices from there.

The tape has been confirmed by Khunying Porntip that it was really doctored. I'm really looking forward to hearing more on findings about this tape.

One of the very few believable voices in the land.

Unlike you then. :)

And it's hard to tell if you would even know the difference.

And the fundemental concept is one person one vote.

And the right to use that vote.

If you think a 51% majority gives you the right to cast laws to enslave the other 49%...then you have no idea what true democracy is.

Yeah, this reminds me of one of Thaksin's nice quote of him only working for people who actually cast vote for him and his party, and how Thaksin left the South to dry after the Tsunamis, because they didn't vote for him. True democracy at work I guess.
