My wife arrived on a fiancee visa in October last year.

Got married this week in the UK and all they were interested in was that she had that visa in her passport - no mention of the new rules.

However, the new rules will affect you if yours is not a fiancee visa.

Good luck!

Latt,

The new rules are intended to clamp down upon people who initially entered the UK for a purpose other than marriage. As you have a fiancée visa you are entitled to get married in the UK and the procedure as it effects you hasn't really changed that much. As I understand it the only difference now is that you can't just pop down to your local registrar but, instead, need to go to one designated for marrying foreign nationals.

Cheers,

Scouse.

Latt,

Under the new rules, in order to marry in the UK you need to either:-

Hold entry clearance as a fiancé/e or marriage visitor, or

Hold a Home Office certificate of approval, or

Be a person with settled status in the UK (e.g. indefinite leave to remain)

As you, presumably, have a fiance visa then you will not have a problem.

(Important. If you only have a marriage visit visa then you will have to leave the UK when it expires, even if you are now married to a British citizen. If you only have an ordinary visit (tourist) visa (or any other type of visa) then you cannot marry in the UK unless you first apply for a certificate of approval from the Home Office. A certificate of approval willnot be granted if the original term of your visa was 6 months or less.)

In England and Wales, you and your boyfriend need to register your intention to marry at one of the designated registry offices. You both need to attend in person. (If you follow the link in my post above and scroll down to the bottom of the page you will find a link to a pdf document giving a list of these.) You don't have to marry at a designated registry office, just register your intention to marry there, you can then marry at whichever office or church you choose.

In Scotland and Northern Ireland all registry offices are designated.

A couple more links for you, Latt.

The second link is to a discussion on Thailand-UK, and I'm afraid you will need to register with them in order to view it.

My boyfriend will go to the immigration laws today to ask for make sure before i go the end of this month.Just hope everything will be fine.

Thank you so much again people.

If you already have a Fiancee visa for the UK then you are ok to marry in the UK before your visa elapses.

The new rules of the 1st Feb relate to people who don't have a settlement type visa ie. student, visitors visa for which a certificate is required from the Home office.

It wont be a problem, as long as you marry before your fiance visa expires. If you have not married, and applied for Further Leave to Remain, when the visa expires, then you will have to return to Thailand and start all over again.

So do it soon!

Clive, the new rules apply to any visa national who wishes to marry in the UK. Latt qualifies under the new rules as she has a fiance visa, but she and her boyfriend still need to give notice of their intention to marry as discussed earlier.

Did the immigration will ask me for tha plan for marry.I mean the date or something like that.Like i said i didnt have a date but we will get marry as soon as i be there this time.

Thanks.

They may, but they can't refuse you entry just because you haven't set a date yet. If they do ask, and they probably wont, just tell them that it will be before your visa expires

Latt, relax. It wont be a problem.

One more question honey..

Is that's ok if i just tell them the reason i came back to thailand just to visited my family?

Dont get angry alright..

So it's no problems at all to tell they're like that. And nothing to worry now right. My boyfriend he's want me to tell them that's someone in my family is not so well that's why,.But i asked the embassy and if i tell them that they're might ask me for proof. So i think it's just tell them that's i came for visit that's it right..

Thank you my dear...

When my g/f had interview in Bangkok and when she went through UK immigration they asked her the date when she is getting married.

It would be a good idea if you had a date in your mind ( even if its not " the date " the same as my g/f ) so that they are satisfied of your intent to marry during your visa period.

Latt, you have said before that your visa is stamped "Mult." This means that it is a multiple entry visa, and it is therefore of no concern to immigration where you have been or why. If they do ask, just say you've been to visit your family.
