Andrew Eldritch
Hello, Greetings! This is my first post so please be kind. My Thai company has to pay a Singaporean company for advertising advice and reimbursement of some costs that the Singapore company paid on my behalf. Must we also pay 15% withholding tax and 7% vat to the Thai Revenue Department? My accountant said that we don't have to pay the 15% withholding tax because there is a double taxation agreement between Thailand and Singapore. I read this agreement but don't understand if an exemption from withholding tax is allowed. We don't receive any income from Singapore and have no other business there. Could someone in the know please confirm if the 15% tax must be paid in Thailand? Thanks!
opalhort
It is my understanding that you do not have to pay withholding tax for payments made to companies abroad. It is for the company abroad to sort out what tax they have to pay to their government. opalhort Edited September 2, 2009 by opalhort
