Twitter Status Updates Failing Silently

Featured Replies

6 September, all status updates via Twitter fails silently. The updates are sent 'indefinitely' and never finishes.

Every other action on twitter.com succeeds, including altering (uploading) images to profile etc.

Updates via cellphone (SMS) works.

It feels like the POST-requests to a specific address is being re-routed to null, basically.

"Our update may be too slow as True Internet announced access to Twitter from Thailand is affected by damages to undersea cables.

That might be the caused of it.

Very interesting, thanks.

Funny that a very narrow selection of functions against a few selected sites would be affected though...as *any* other request on Twitter works like a charm. Oh, and of course it works fine from work aslo, different ISP etc . :)

If you have been using an application called TwitTux, it has never gone away at all here in Bangkok.

Dear True Internet user,

Due to tropical storm in Taiwan, CAT Telecom fiber optic cable leased lines have been damaged. This may cause slower speed in browsing some international web pages, where their servers are located in the Asian region, e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Hi5 and Yahoo. However, True Internet is doing its best to facilitate hi-speed Internet users with its TIG network that helps relieve such effects.

By the time the damage is completely fixed (around 15 Sep 09) the users will be able to access all web pages as usual. More information is available on www.newsfactor.com

Surfing is fine from home. Following Twitter, signing up to follow other users etc all work fine. ONLY post status updates via the specific website fails (AJAX request into a black hole).

Is is a very specific failure they are trying to say is from a cable breakage then.

I'm in Bangkok with True and having the same problem with the Twitter home page for the last few days. Can't update status but everything other function is fine.

I can update status by using a Twitter client though.

Myspace is also a problem. Can view pages but unable to log in and view my page....very frustrating.

Facebook is fine though.
