Selling And Renting Houses

Featured Replies

Can a expat with a work permit sell and rent houses in Thailand, the way i understand Thai law this job should be done by a Thai national only.

I can't find it on the list of prohibited professions or for companies.

See page 43 for companies and 49 for individuals of the BOI business guide.

I believe work permits are job specific. Having a work permit for one purpose doesn't allow someone to perform any and all work, eg. a work permit to teach at a university doesn't provide legal coverage to work selling and renting houses.

I noticed trading in land is not allowed, would selling houses which are built on land be covered by this clause( page 43)

I'd guess it would be covered as you cannot have a house which is not on land though I know legally you can separate the ownership.

But loads of westerners in property in high profile agencies so a work around must be available. Perhaps a consultant ?

I don't want to be a consultant, but actually sell and rent houses to expats and i don't think i can legally do this. Can anyone help with more information.
