lordsux
I took this shot a couple of years ago and can't get a positive identification. Any ideas?
Magoomba
It's certainly a Kingfisher and looks to me like a Brown Winged Kingfisher. A quick Google finds specimens in the South of Thailand with similar characteristics.

lordsux
Thx for putting me on the right track. It is in fact a Ruddy Kingfisher Ruddy Kingfisher Halcyon coromanda This kingfisher frequents forested streams and mangrove areas at the coast and has been recorded up to 2,000 metres. It is most difficult to observe as it sits in dense cover in the forest vegetation for long periods without movement. Source
Magoomba
Very good, I was thinking it might be an immature Brown Kingfisher. May I tongue in cheek suggest that if there is a Bird Challenge in the Photo competition, that you don't enter that image - I think you were excited to see such a beautiful creature and got any image you could.
