Has anyone found a good supplier for generic pizza boxes that do not require the purchase of thousands of boxes and printing plates costs etc... attached to the price. We are currently looking for boxes for an 8" pizza and a 12" pizza, We are not looking for a fancy logo design just a simple box that might say "Pizza" and allow orders of 500 of each size to start, with a price that does not equal half the cost of the pizza itself.

Also looking for a thailand supplier of aluminum pizza pans or screens. Cheese would be nice also as we are noticing Makro mall cheese prices move up faster than oil prices.

Any help would be wonderful

What is the price of Cheese in Makro these days???? Mozzarella & Cheddar

2kg block's..... the closest one to me is 3 1/2 hrs and a boat ride.. so I don't get a chance to go often...

As for box's.. If I remember there are a number of places in Chinatown (Bangkok) that sell small lot packaging ... it's where I get my Vac-pac bag's.... should be able to find a supplier... Sorry I don't know the name of the street.. I just spent a afternoon wandering around, and found every thing I needed.. from buspans to vac-pac bags... worth a look

just remember to get a card with there phone # when you do find what you need.. just keep asking ... if you have an empty box take that with you too...

I think Schmidt & Co have Pizza pan's

Thank you both for replies.

As to makro cheese, 2 weeks ago I was there and they had 2kg packages of both cheddar and mozzarella around 125 baht, 12kg just over 1200 baht, yet this past Sunday I was there to purchase and they only had 1kg packages cheddar 350 baht 1 kg and mozzarella 315baht 1kg. So at this point Im unsure as to what the normal price of this will be. I went ahead and got some of it to try but have used any of it yet so the jury is still out as far as quality. I will keep you informed of the quality and prices as they change.

I am going to China town this Saturday to see if I can locate any of the box suppliers so if you happen to recall any street or soi name please let me know as it would really help to pin down the location.

I will try to get in touch with Schmidt & Co for pizza pans today also.

I checked out Delcasaro, looks pretty good, I will contact them today for cheese pricing. Would be nice if they had a price list on the site. I will have to figure cost of both cheese and delivery from them.

All I can remember is that I found a covered ally market that streched for block after block... it was around there not in the market, but on a street near one end ( not even 50% sure but I would say the North end) .. if you can take a Thai friend to help you ask around you should find it ..

Something I find helpful is to keep me eyes open for someone using packaging similar to what you need Eg; Small cake box's or any small box's...and ask them where they buy them...

You should be able to find everything you need In Chinatown... Maybe theres someone else reading that knows there way around Chinatown.... and can give you better directions...

On the + side you are going to get lost in Chinatown, and find all kinds of cool thing's for your new business...... it's the best place in Bangkok to get lost & look around...

I agree with you ..I really don't like it when a company hide's there prices.... it must mean that they are significently more expensive than the supermarket... all thought they should be cheaper as they make it.....

12kg for 1,200Thb .... Sorry Mr pals I have never seen it for less than 300thb a kg I think that was a mistake ..... but like I said I don't get out much.... and If you see it again for that price let me know.... do they still have 12kg blocks of cheese?? and how much are they now??

We dabbled in a weekend pizza biz out of our home, here in the outlands of Chainat, before we got too busy with our other business.

No travel necessary. We were able to order just a couple hundred boxes by phone, delivered by mail, paid by ATM. However, just plain brown 12" pizza boxes, no printing. I think they were about 10-12 baht each.

You may need someone who speaks/reads Thai to place your order.

Good luck.

I think you are right about the cheese price being a typo, all of the 2kg packages where gone so I asume someone else grab those up at that price. I checked Schmidt & Co today for pizza pans they carry only a 7" and 8.5" so will keep looking for those. They had no clue what a pizza peel was so I think I will have that made and probably the pans also.

rsc box will work for a plain no logo box for now. Size = price in baht so 10" box is 10baht 12"box 12baht. Little steep for non printed but they do allow smaller orders for start up which is nice.

I will be back at Makro this weekend and search for the blocks of cheese, I didn't see them before but will let you know.

Now I have to start running tests on the yeast here to see what is active and what is slow.

I gave quite detailed directions as to where to buy pizza ovens, in answer to a post ,under"Where to buy Pizza ovens", in this forum,Just needs a little bit of walking. Also, the area I gave directions for, sells a big range of Professional Cooking gear, both in Chinatown and Little India.
