Google Chrome 3

No one mentioned this yet. A quiet release if ever there was one.

Tell me 1 good reason why I should use Google Chrome instead of Firefox. :)

Are you talking about the new BETA version?

Ver 3.0.195.21 is running on my PC, final not beta, came out yesterday according to PCWorld. It's not my default browser, I use FF3.5.3 for that, but whenever a web site is troublesome, I open in Chrome often from with FF.

Google Chrome works better with youtube? There are less banner ads and popups with it too? That's been my experience anyway.

You should install Addblock Plus at Firefox. Then there are no ads and popups at all. :) And then your browsing experience gets very fast. Google Chrome still will be busy with downloading the latest ad......compared to Firefox. :D

Chrome really needs a flashblock built in. I liked the browser but suddenly all my pages turned into some animated garbage disneyland... oh... I had forgotten, they still like to put animated Flash ads on everything. I never see those in Safari or Firefox thanks to Adblock.

I just downloaded Chrome to give it another try. It says I have version 4.0.206.1

I use Ad Muncher and it works well with all the browsers. I don't see any ads.

Whatever it is has BIG problems. It crashes opening my Yahoo home page.

I uninstalled 4.0.206.1 and downloaded 3.0.195.21. It seems to be working much better.

Chrome uses much less memory than either FF or IE (both of which are heavy). I tend to use Chrome mostly now. I use the HOSTS file with a full set of add sites listed - this removes all the ad links and flash-verts (though I do seem to get prompted for the NYTimes server password - its Chromes favourite advert! - and it doesn't seem to like the fact that it can't download the ads :) )

Only use IE when a badly written site demands it (my bank for example!) and FF when I'm compatability testing my own website stuff (along with IE/Chrome/Safari/Opera and Netscape) - now why can't everyone do that, sheesh!.

you've made the right decision :)

I have both. FF is fun but Google Chrome is lighter and faster.

Firefox is by default tuned for slower machines and connections. Run Firetune and you'll see a noticeable improvement. Learn how to edit the config file and it's smoking fast.

Excellent! It works for me!

Used to be a loyal FireFox user - tried Chrome and never looked back.

Light, fast and unobtrusive - Not as many bells & whistles as FF, but I like it simple and clean.

Also, Chrome is consistently tested to be the most secure browser by leaps and bounds. It will probably be exploited more as more people adopt it, but for now it's great.

Love the new themes in v3

Aloha

Firefox is still the one to beat. I did download Firetune and Firefox seems even faster. Thanks for the link.

It is a good idea to compare the down/upload speeds of Google Chrome with Firefox. Sometimes there is a big difference. The reason might be wrong values in the Registry for DefaultReceiveWindow and DefaultSendWindow. They might be too low for your connection. Google Chrome seems to use its own values, Firefox not but the ones from the Registry.

Firefox user here.

Why use Google chrome ? Lightning fast startup and shut down. Firefox several seconds or more especially if using any plugin.

Why I am using FF still? The Google Chrome dev path now is to a plugin ecosystem but its not quite ready, no delicious plugin, no pernament tabs, no firefoxy. I belive we're on 4 beta now because the scope of what was to be done in 3 grew too large and thus the 3 is largely a beta to 4, same same Firefox 3.1 becoming 3.5,
