My wife and were wondering if we had legal guardianship of a friends child and we moved to the States for schooling if we would be able to sponsor the child for US citizenship. Does anyone have any experience with this or useful information to share?

Seems to me that "legal guardianship" of a child is a whole lot different than adoption, which would work easily (after the arduous adoption process) to U.S. citizenship. Guardianship might not work.
