When I first read the headline about Thai police officers with a fake smile and saw the photo I thought it was a joke, but it seems to be real.

The article quotes the chief of the motorway police: "We have asked our officers on duty to be always friendly..." but later makes reference to the Bangkok police. I still think that photo was staged, or has anybody seen a motorcycle policeman with a mask like that?

Excellent If it is true, but it would not really surprise me if it was.

...and don't forget the "Hello Kitty" armbands that were supposed to be 'awarded' to miscreant police officers. Did anybody see those????
