Standard Steel/aluminum Plate/sheet Thicknesses?

Hi Guys,

I am wondering if anyone knows where I can find a list of the standard thicknesses of steel and aluminum sheetmetal and plate that are used in Thailand.

I met with a laser cutter last week, he mentioned that Thailand uses "JIS standard" thicknesses, I figured I could just googlize it. But I haven't been able to turn up anything that seems reliable. I emailed the fabricator but haven't heard back. I keep getting deeper and deeper in my drawings using assumed thicknesses and am running out of time.

Any resources would be appreciated!

Thanks,

David

I couldn't figure out whether to put this in the DIY housing section or in the business section (which lists manufacturing)...if a wise moderator could send me in a better direction I would be appreciative.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I couldn't find what I wanted...all of the JIS references to ferrous material just talks about the metallurgy and not dimensional standards...

This is the best thing that I could find http://www.lertsiamsteel.co.th/frame.asp?menu=pd&id=3 They refer to stainless steel, but for now I think I can assume steel and aluminum equivalency.

In the states I was so used to relying on my tattered copy of the Ryerson Stocklist (or its shiny online equivalent - http://www.ryerson.com/stocklist/Stocklist...Home&REF=1)

Pretty much anywhere on planet earth a thickness in mm will work. The supplier will have tables to convert what you ask for to the nearest local standard :)

Just wanted to follow up...

Since my original query I found an excellent Thai steel supplier website that I use nearly everyday as a stock list reference http://www.vrsteel.com

And I recently found another reference for aluminum extrusions http://www.thaimetal.com/ineng.html

There is also a Thai reference book for engineers available (got mine at an SE-ED book store) that lists everything that is theoretically available. The cover is fully in Thai with black and white graphics of a building under construction and a few structural profiles, but after you get past the second page the rest of the charts (and the table of contents) are in English. It's ISBN is 974-94671-7-6

JIS....is the Japanese standards institute, therefore plate thickness will be in mm, not imperial units.

Therefore only finding info metallurgcial info would be correct, plenty of charts on line which give equivilant material grades across different standards

Typical thickness' would be 6mm 1/4", 12mm 0.5", 19mm 3/4" & 25.4 1.0" etc....these pretty much standard across the world
