Xbox 360 Ntcs To Pal Adaptor And Visa Versa

Featured Replies

I have an Xbox 360 bought here in Thailand. I want to take it with me to work in Libya. I can not see written anywhere on the XBOX if it is NTSC or PAL but I think it will be PAL. I am not sure what the system is in Libya but when I took my old PS2 there I had to use an adapter. Does anyone know if there is such an adapter available for the XBOX?

According to this site http://www.videouniversity.com/articles/wo...de-tv-standards Libya uses SECAM so either way you'll need a converter unless the xbox can be tweeked to output this somewhat rare standard. Without a converter you will likely get a picture but without colour.

As to obtaining one? If the place you are staying has an LCD or plasma you're in luck as most are multi-standard and will happily decode the PAL from your Xbox :)

Just to add to the mix Libya has two mains voltages, generally 127V but Barce, Benghazi, Derna, Sebha & Tobruk are 230 V http://www.kropla.com/electric2.htm so you may be needing a transformer too.

Thanks for that help.

Your right. With the PS2 I got a black and white picture. I'm almost sure Libya was PAL too but what you say makes sense if its SECAM. I will try to get some sort of converter today.

The power supply is mainly 220V so I'm ok there.

It doesn't really matter anymore any TV with HD ready on it or any flat panel TV (LCD/Plasma) will be able to use the xbox 360/ps3 OK.

PAL/NTSC is then a non-issue (as you will be displaying in 720p or 1080p which are the same worldwide).

I went to a games shop in Pattaya and the guy there said that with the Xbox360 it does not matter about PAL and NTSC. The machine will work on both. I will be using it on a CRT TV. I hope the same applies for that.
