How Many Options When Applying For Non-imm O ?

Featured Replies

I have a three months, singls entry, non-imm O, which will give me five months in Thailand, 3 months + 2 months extention.

I have previously had a one year, multiple entry, non-imm O, which gave me 15 months in Thailand, one year + 3 months, (by using visa runs).

What more options are there ?

Do consulates issue three months, multiple entry, non-imm O, or one year, single entry, non-imm O ?

I might add that in my personal exerience, it is, for me, easy to get a three months visa, but very difficult to get a one year visa.

Sorry that is wrong. There is no 2 month extension. All you get is 3 months.

Unless you have a Thai Wife or Child. Looking back at your posts it appears that you do.

Consulates issue a 3 month single entry Non Imm O Visa.

Or a 12 month Multi Entry Visa if you qualify.

If you are not over 50 or have a Thai Wife or Child the only possibility for a 12 month in the area is probably Perth. Even they may be tightening up.

If you have a Thai Wife, as I think you do, Penang or KL will issue.

I got a two months (60 days) extension of my non-imm O, in July 2009, by Nonthaburi immigration (before they moved to the rice field).

You extended your stay but that is only because you used the "visit Thai wife or child" provision for a 60 day extension of stay - those without that proof can not extend there stay. The visa itself is not extendable - only your stay is.

Where was the Nonthaburi Immigration office? I have never heard of one before.

Where is the current best place to apply for a 1 year Multi Entry Non Immigrant O based on Marriage in the region?

KL.

Multi O / , is that the case then for married to a Thai national and have the money in the bank etc.

Last couple of days in the Bangkok Post (online) postbag section, letters about a someone who went to Penang and was only issued with a single entry visa. Mighty pissed off about it, as he used services of a "visa firm too".

Previously he used to return to UK annually and apply for muti entry non O.

Non-O visa can be issued for many reasons, one of them being married to Thai. Most people choose extension of stay based on marriage for convenience (no border runs), but if travelling/abroad a lot, or cannot meet financial requirements for extension of stay, then obtaining 12 month Non-O visa based on marriage is another option.

Very few people have. (There is a newly opened thread about it.)

It is easy to get a three months, single entry, non-imm O, for family reasons, in Penang,

but much more difficult to get a one year, muliple entry, non-imm O, unless you have a fat bank account in Thailand. How much do you need in the bank ? I don't know.

This answers my original question, thank you very much.

Obtaining multiple Non-O visa on basis of marriage to Thai national is not difficult in the region. Go to KL. 30K+ in bank account should do it with marriage certificate etc. Penang will issue too (may need more in the bank).

I was advised by the senior immigration officer in Kantang last week that A NON IMM "O" BASED ON MARRIAGE WITH THE REQUIRED FUNDS ( proof of 40k /month or 400k in the bank for the previous 3 months) can be applied for and issued by that office..no need to go off shore.

Re the visiting family.... 1 year multiple entry Non Imm '0" ..it is available in Perth, just need copy of spouse/partners passport or ID card & maybe house book..THAT IS ALL. Information confirmed yesterday by email from Royal Thai Consulate Perth. PM me if need forms etc.

It would be a good idea if TV assimilated all this information and updated the docs on this site...to avoid too much bloody conjecture and rumour...

You are talking about obtaining extension of stay based on marriage (not a visa) which is issued by Thai immigration. We are talking about alternative option of obtaining multiple entry non-O visa on vasis of marriage from embassy/consulate abroad.

Recent discussions about Perth have been around the issue of Non-O visa for visiting friends on the basis of no relationship with Thai. Yes you can get Non-O visa in Perth on basis of marriage to Thai with correct paperwork.

So what is the benefit of a Non-Imm 'O' over an Extension of Stay of an existing visa?

am I right in thinking:

* Non-Imm 'O' means you have to leave the country every 90 days, while extension of stay doesn't require this

* Non-Imm 'O' has to be applied for outside Thailand while extension can be done at Chaengwattana....?

Almost correct.

The extension has to be applied for at your local Immigration Office.

Non-Imm O visas *can* be obtained within Thailand -- as part of a package deal leading to a one-year extension of stay.
