Professional Resume/cv Writing

Featured Replies

Hi All

I need to update my resume, actually a rewrite would be more accurate.

It is soon contract time again at work and I would like to explore other opportunities. Currently my resume/cv goes into a whopping 3 full pages. Too much info and difficult to read.

So I have decided to do a rewrite, so wondering if anyone knows of professional resume/cv writing services or DIY sites.

Cheers.

MM

Have a look here for some great advice on resume writing. http://www.rockportinstitute.com/resumes.html

Readability is very important use for example Georgia 12 point font and fiddle with line spacing (e.g 14) Character spacing (expand by 0.1, kern at 10). There is a website somewhere which shows examples of resumes that were highly improved just by using some tricks like that. I found it by just Googling a bit and looking at some examples.

I re did mine a few months ago and I must say it is a lust for the eye. Very symmetric and "open" if that is the right word to use. I showed it to a few friends and they really liked the style, very easy to scan through. If I remember well I have read that most advice not to make a resume longer than 2 pages (It should be like a selling sheet) . Why not make a resume and a CV as a CV can be a bit more detailed like if you have any academic achievements/publications for example.

Here another site that can help you a bit: http://jobsearch.about.com/lr/cv_or_resume/64171/2/

Good luck!

:)
