I loved being able to watch movies from brought discs and listen to music via my disc drive and transfer my music to disc, my own disc jocky I have music back to [uk america ]1940 to date

but one day it wasnt there.the drive well it was, but the computer says cant find a drive ,in some mad rush i must have deleted the drive program?? best friends who are quite clued up have failed to fix reinstal no

start from last known , no what do you feel, have a new disc drive installed or??? thankyou sucki tandc

One thing you can do to check:

(Windows XP)

- click the start menu

- right-click "my computer" -> select "manage"

- in there is an item in the left tree structure called "device manager" - click that

- now you can fold out the CD/DVD drive item in the right-hand window.

Is there any drives listed there? If so are there any yellow exclamation marks over the icons?

It could be one of two things:

(1) CDROM drive is dead; or

(2) Loose cables / bad power connector.

Do you have an extra cdrom drive? If not, borrow one from a friend and connect it to your computer to see if it works.

You could run Malwarebytes for a try.I "lost" my harddrives some time ago and Malware was the reason.

sorry, I was in the wrong thread here, lol

I have had two CD drives fail within 4 years. I took the first one to my local computer shop and he looked at it and pointed to the waste basket. I bought a Lite on and it failed after about a year and a half. My latest Asus CD/DVD is about a year old and so far working fine. The old original Mitsumi plain CD ROM needs replaced. It works most of the time but not every time. A replacement CD/DVD costs less than 2,000 baht.

Actually even cheaper. A new DVD/RW will only cost you about 800 baht. So it's n rarely worth it starting to repair them.

Before buying a new drive try this :)

Disconnect the drive, with the computer off, either by pulling the power or data cable. Start the computer with the disconnected drive.

Shut down the computer and reconnect the drive before restating the computer again. If all is well the system will go through a "Found new hardware" routine and you get the drive back.

If this does not work in your case try the above suggestions.

:D

R U shore your computer has not been burgled :)

Is it a PC or laptop drive ?
