Elephant Injures 3 Year Old Boy At Pattaya Floating Market.

Pattaya, October 20 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : On Monday Afternoon at the Pattaya Floating Market located on the Sukumvit Road in Jomtien an incident involving an elephant occurred which left a 3 year old boy with injuries. The boy, Deckchai Gritdanon, was rushed to the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for treatment to an injury to his stomach caused by the tusk of the elephant. Khun Tong-oon aged 43 is the Elephant Master and rents an area inside the market with his 5 year old female elephant and for a small fee, you can purchase food to feed to the elephant. According to reports from the Elephant Master, two young boys were poking the elephant with a sharp implement which was taking place at the time when the young boy was giving food to the elephant which became agitated and then grabbed the boy and held him tightly with his trunk. Eventually the boy was released and rushed to Hospital at the expense of the Pattaya Floating Market who is now reviewing the elephant attraction while the young boy recovers from injuries sustained during the attack. Doctors tell us he is expected to be released in the next 2 days and will continue his recovery at home.

Donation from Emergency Tourist Relief Fund for Boy hurt by Elephant at Pattaya Floating Market.

Pattaya, October 21 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : Following the accident which occurred at the Pattaya Floating Market on Monday involving an elephant and a 3 year old boy, we were invited to the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya on Wednesday Morning to visit the boy, Deckchai Gritdanon, who was in good spirits despite his encounter with the elephant who caused the boy injury. Khun Mongkol, the Chief of Banglamung District and Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya were part of an official delegation who came to see how the boy was recovering and they also presented him with an envelope containing 20,000 Baht from the Tourist Emergency Relief Fund as the boy was on holiday from Udon Thani Province with his family when the incident happened. The donation was gratefully received by the boys parents, Khun Sumatana aged 42 who works as a Teacher at a school in Udon Thani and her Husband, Khun Tirasak of the same age who is the Principal of the school. The parents thanked the local officials for their assistance and we can confirm that Police are now in contact with the Market and the Elephant Master over the incident.
