You can extend your current tourist visa for 30 days at Thai immigration, fee 1900 baht. After that you could go to Vientiane and obtain double entry tourist visa. With extensions and a border run in the middle that would give you nearly another 6 months stay.

There is currently a crackdown on tourist visas and some people are getting red warning stamp from Vientiane. How long that will last, or what the implications are for people apply for new tourist visas when their current visas expire, nobody yet knows. But if you have one single entry tourist visa in your passport, reports suggest that you should not have a problem. The thread below gives more information:

Alternatively, go to one of the honorary consulates in Europe or to Perth and obtain 12 month Non-O visa on the basis of visiting friends. That will give you 90 day permission to stay on each entry. Do a border run before your visa expires to obtain new 90 day permission to stay, effectively stretching your visas to 15 months.

Hello all :)

I am currently on a triple entry tourist visa that will expire in december. I dont want to get that red stamp in Vientiane so Perth might be a good idea, since I always wanted to visit Australia.

But... as a French citizen, won't I have any problem to get a new tourist visa there?

Thanks a lot for your answers!

You don't have to be a national of the country the consulate is located in to obtain a visa. You might better try for a multiple non-O visa based on visiting friends.

Many Europeans apply for visas there without problems. If applying for multi-entry Non-O visa on basis of visiting friends, note recent reports indicate Perth has 'tightened up' requirements, and now need to also take signed copy of Thai gf ID card/passport.
